The efforts follow a story by Matt Kepnes, an American blogger, titled "Why I'll never return to Viet Nam" in a US newspaper, listed all the problems he faced in Viet Nam.
VNAT deputy director general Nguyen Manh Cuong said though the tourism industry has improved in recent years, it remained some problems.
One of the measures to restrain these problems is enhancing the responsibility of tourism officials and local authorities, he said.
* Provinces link hands for tourism
12 provinces and cities will participate a tourism promotes the programme initiated by the HCM City Tourism Association to enhance the travel demand.
Nguyen Thi Khanh, deputy chairwoman of the association, said that the Tourism Association of the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta and travel firms and hotels in 12 provinces and cities have promised to decline prices by about 30%.
Thua Thien-Hue, Nghe An, and Binh Thuan Provinces and Da Nang will also participate.
Given the large-scale participation, the prices of domestic tours noticed earlier by the HCM City Tourism Association and Viet Nam Airlines can be cut down over 30%.
