Cu Chi Tunnels is a well-known historic revolution relic in Phu My Hung ward , Cu Chi rural district, far 70 km from the town center of Ho Chi Minh to the northwest.
The tunnels is basically a distinctive wonder: 250 km long zigzagging underground tunnels that were created with original tools as hoes and shovels.
The tunnels are 3-8m below from the ground with the height enough for a simply doubling person. The primary trench is at the sting of the forest with underground wells that offer water for the whole tunnels space. The well is 15m deep with clean and pure and crystal-clear water.
The tunnels system include 3 floors from the “backbone” stretching out various short or long branches with the short connected to one another and the long reaching over to Saigon River. The primary floor is three meter deep from the ground, protected against artilleries, and weight of tanks and armored vehicles.
The second floor is five meter deep from the ground, protected against small-size bombs. The deepest floor is 8-10m from the ground that is extraordinarily safe area. Entrances between floors have basement secret covers. The tunnels were so well camouflaged on the top that they gave the look of termit nests; along the tunnels are vents.
At every intersection of tunnels is a giant basement for resting, relaxing, reserving arms, food, water with a kitchen, commanding place and surgery area. Some huger basements has roofs, being cleverly disguised for watching films together with art shows.
Cu Chi is one of Ho Chi Minh attractive places that tourist could pay a visit.
