Gong Culture - Space of Tay Nguyen (the Central Highlands)

Lying in 5 provinces of the Central Highlands comprised of Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong and Lam Dong, the gong culture is a type of art closely connected with the cultural history of the ethnic groups who live along the Truong Son Range in the Central Highlands such as the E De, Ba Na, Ma, Lac together with others.

Every ethnic group beats gongs in their own way to form various pieces of music on the occasions of festivals, as well as welcoming the New Year and a new house celebrating ceremonies.
Through the year, Gongs have become a typical cultural characteristic, the unique and attract of the Central Highlands. In 2005, the Space of Gong Culture in Central Highlands - Vietnam was officially recognized as Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
