Villages and Guilds in Vietnam

The Vietnamese culture has forever evolved on the premise of the wet rice civilization. Thus, the life-style of the Vietnamese population is closely associated with its village and native lands.

In Vietnamese society, people gather to create villages in rural areas, and guilds in urban areas. Villages and guilds are forming since the dawn of the state. These organizations have gradually developed for the population to be more stable and nearer together. Every village and guild has its own laws known as conventions.

The purpose of those conventions is the promotion of excellent customs among populations. All the conventions are completely different however they're always in accordance with the state laws.

Approximately 10,000 such conventions are kept in the History Museum in Hanoi and in alternative museums throughout the country.
